Laura Borràs i Castanyer (Barcelona, 1970) is a specialist in the theory of literature and comparative literature. She has a degree in Catalan Language and Literature (1993) and gained her PhD in Romance Studies (1997) from the University of Barcelona with the thesis “Forms of folly in the Middle Ages. Comparative study of literary texts and iconographic representations”. She specializes in the dissemination of literature in digital environments, particularly 2.0 networks.

She teaches at theUniversityofBarcelonaand is academic director of the master’s degree in Literature in the Electronic Age (UB–Grup 62). She received the Young Researcher Award of the Generalitat de Catalunya Catalan Government (2001–2005) and since 2000 has directed the Hermeneia research group. She is a member of the International Advisory Board of the Electronic Literature Organization (ELO). Since 2013 she has been director of the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes.
