Evelio Cabrejo

Colombian psychoanalyst and linguist, specialist in orality and the pedagogy of reading.

Evelio Cabrejo (Colombia, 1942) is a psychoanalyst and linguist. He has been resident in France since 1970, where he was assistant director of the Department of Linguistics at the University of Paris 7-Denis Diderot. He promotes reading workshops for young children and has written numerous articles about the pedagogy of reading. He has also worked as a consultant and advisor on various reading programmes in Latin American countries.

He is currently vice president of ACCES (Actions culturelles contre les exclusions et les segregations), an initiative directed at groups at risk of social exclusion with the aim of improving conditions of learning to read and write based on the discovery of written language in early infancy.
