Ray Loriga

Ray Loriga (Madrid, 1967) is the author of the novels The Worst Thing of All (1992), Héroes (1993), Caídos del cielo (1995), Tokyo Doesn’t Love Us Anymore (1999), Trífero (2000 and 2014), The Man Who Invented Manhattan (2004), Ya sólo habla de amor (2008), El bebedor de lágrimas (2011), Za Za, emperador de Ibiza (2014), Rendition (2017; Alfaguara Novel Prize), Sombrero y Mississippi (2010), and the books of short stories Strange Days (1994), Even Stranger Days (2007) and Los oficiales y El destino de Cordelia (2009). His literary work, which has been translated into fifteen other languages, has received high critical praise on the national and international levels. His most recent published work is Sábado, domingo (Alfaguara, 2019). As a screenwriter he has worked with directors including Pedro Almodóvar and Carlos Saura. He has directed the films My Brother’s Gun, adapted from the novel Caídos del cielo, and Theresa, The Body of Christ. He has contributed to newspapers and magazines including Ajoblanco, El Europeo, El País and El Canto de la Tripulación.
