Àfrica Fanlo

Àfrica Fanlo has an Art degree from the University of Barcelona, specializing in painting and engraving. Àfrica concentrates her creative labours in the publishing world, illustrating children’s books, with over 30 titles under her belt.

She is a contributor to Cavall Fortand Tretzevents, and has had illustrated albums published by La Galera, Cruïlla, Edebé, Barcanova, Publicacions de l’Abadia de Montserrat, Alba Editorial and Intermón Oxfam, among others, and books overseas by Oskar Éditeur and International Baccalaureate. In 2004 she was honoured with the Premi Junceda, awarded by the APIC, for the book Els colors del metall published by Auditori de Barcelona. She teaches as Escola BAU and Massana, and has taken part in various workshops such as the Big Draw 2012, promoted by the Museu Picasso de Barcelona, Difumina 2012 and the Festa del Grafisme in Portbou 2009-2010.

Her illustrations have been featured on Televisió de Catalunya TV programmes such as Una mà de contes and El Club Super 3, in the film La mosquitera (2010) by Agustí Vila, on the Dr. Wonders app of Océano publishers (Mexico) and in the designs of toys created by Londji. She is currently working with other disciplines such as video, animation, dance and music, as art director and producer for an audiovisual production company.
