Julieta Lionetti

Julieta Lionetti, with over 25 years’ experience in the world of publishing and books, started out in journalism at Perfil publishers in Buenos Aires and, in 1990, became the editor at Muchnik Editores (today, El Aleph), a company she directed for 10 years, until it was sold to Edicions 62. In 2001 she formed part of the start-up Broadebooks, Spain’s first independent eBook distributor, and set up Poliedro publishers, specializing in narrative and creative essay. She is currently strategic consultant for contents and director of publishing relations at the start-up 24symbols, the first subscription reading service in Spain.

The many authors she has introduced to readers in Spanish include Nobel prize-winner Mo Yan, Chuck Palahniuk, Torgny Lindgren, Vincenzo Consolo and William T. Vollman. One of the publishing experiences she remembers most fondly is the publication of La Biblia Laica, a shared initiative with Sottish publisher Canongate, which salvaged the translation of Casiodoro de Reina, a jewel of the Spanish Golden Age, and highlighted the literary value of biblical books with prologues by contemporary writers, including Doris Lessing, Jesús Ferrero and Nick Cave.
