Karma Peiró, journalist, began her career in 1992 with Spanish Television (TVE) and three years later came into contact with the new technologies through Servicom, the first Internet provider for private users. In 1995 coordinates the magazine Web, published by the Godó Group. In 1998 she coordinated the First International Congress on Electronic Publications and began as editor-in-chief for the magazine en.red.ando, where she works on different journalistic tasks concerned with the new technologies, Internet and the web.

From 2003 – 2007 she taught at the University of Vic, the International University of Catalonia and the Open University of Catalonia. In 2004 and 2005 she was director and presenter of the programme Bits de Nit on Catalunya Ràdio.

In 2007, Karma Peiró began working as Community Manager at La Vanguardia newspaper, and a year later she took up the same role at 324.cat (2008-12), the TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio news portal.

In May 2013, she co-organised the 1st Data Journalism and Open Data Conference (#jpd13) at the CCCB with the investigative journalist Mar Cabra.

Currently, she is the coordinator of technology communities for the Creativity and Innovation Department at Barcelona City Council; she teaches Digital Journalism and Hypermedia Reporting and Production at the Blanquerna Communications Faculty, Ramon Llull University; co-produces the podcast “Ladridos al amo” on journalism and digital communication with the scientific journalist Luis Ángel Fernández Hermana; and imparts lectures and courses on data journalism, community management and digital journalism.

Karma Peiró is a member of the Open Knowledge Foundation Spain and coordinates the monthly Data Journalism sessions at the CCCB.
