Yannick Garcia (Amposta, 1979) is a writer, translator and interpreter. He won the II Gabriel Ferrater Poetry Prize with the book of poems De Dalt i de Baix (2003 Edicions 62) and appeared in the anthology of poetry Terres d’aigua. Poemari de les Terres de l’Ebre (2004, Cossetània). As for narrative, he has published several stories in literary magazines and won the XX Narrative Award of Ametlla de Mar for his book of stories Barbamecs (2011, Cossetània) as well as the Documenta 2013 Award for his collection of stories La nostra vida vertical, published in 2014 by L’ Altra Editorial. He has participated in the anthologies of short stories Els caus secrets (2013, Moll) and Emergencias (2013, Candaya). He contributes to several media with reviews of new books. He has taught acting at the Pompeu Fabra University. He has translated into Catalan essays, novels and popular works by authors such as Jules Verne, Michael Connelly, Sebastian Barry, Ocean Vuong and George Saunders. In 2022, he won the Aurora Bertrana Prize for Best Translation of the Year for his translation of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (Bernat Metge Universal, 2022).
