In the post-pandemic scenario, some of the most interesting proposals are emerging from the hybridisation of literature and contemporary art. Artist books and conceptual novels have always existed but recently there has been a proliferation of bridging texts with a foothold in each discipline, imbibing from the best that fiction and artistic practice have to offer in order to explore new territories and enrich fiction with the plastic arts. These are books that tend to take shape in drawing, photography, videos, and painting, as well as in installations, performance, and theatre, and are born in an intermingling of disciplines that dynamite categories and expand narrative possibilities. In discussing this constellation of hybrid creators, we shall speak with two of the leading exponents of this geography, the Catalan writer and artist Alicia Kopf, author of Germà de gel (Brother in Ice – L’Altra Editorial / Alpha Decay) and represented by the Joan Prats Gallery, and the Mexican writer Verónica Gerber Bicecci, author of Mudanza (Move – Consonni) and La compañía (The Company – Pepitas de Calabaza), who defines herself as a “visual artist who writes”.
