From a very early age, the writer Tsitsi Dangarembga, born in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia), learned the languages of colonialism and the patriarchy and the silences that sustain them. Throughout her life, she has found in literature, cinema, and activism the tools for breaking these silences; indeed, as a result of this, she came close to being jailed in Zimbabwe in 2022. Dangarembga became an internationally acclaimed literary and feminist reference with her novel Nervous Conditions (1988), published in Catalan by L’Agulla Daurada (2023).

In this session, Tsitsi Dangarembga dialogues with journalist David Guzman about her literary pathway and about how literature can shed light on the inequalities and oppressions that continue to beset us.
