The geomungo is a six-stringed Korean zither, created a thousand years ago, which produces melody, bass and percussion at the same time. It is also the main musical instrument played by the artist Minyoung Kim, who, in her compositions, combines it with traditional jeongga poetic singing and electronic music.
After 10 years as part of the duo ReMidas and the group NAWI, Minyoung Kim presents PLASTIC, her new solo album. Kim’s creations focus on the meeting between past and future, preserving the meditative spirit of Korea’s musical and poetic tradition, while exploring avenues that lead to new sound qualities. Through the use of traditional instruments and multimedia elements, Minyoung Kim builds a universe all her own before our eyes. With this concert, Kosmopolis kicks off an event that invites us to discover the creative energy of South Korea.
