The Disturbing Unconscious of the American Dream
Beatriz García Guirado is a journalist, writer, screenwriter and literature professor. She has worked in media outlets such as El confidencial, Jot Down, Quimera and Vice. She served as editor of the cultural magazine Láudano Magazine and has taught workshops on creative writing, the short story format, and narrative journalism.
She is the author of three novels: El silencio de las sirenas [The Silence of Sirens] (Salto de página, 2016), La tierra hueca [The Hollow Earth] (Aristas Martínez, 2019), and Los pies fríos [Cold Feet] (Sloper, 2022), a noir thriller with a dash of the paranormal that transports the reader to a world reminiscent of Twin Peaks and Angela Carter. She is also co-author of the essay Ballard Reloaded (H&O, 2023) and has participated in collective works such as El gran libro de Satán [The Big Book of Satan] (Blackie Books, 2021) and Oculto David Lynch [Occult David Lynch] (Dilatando Mentes, 2022), among others. Her stories have been published in various anthologies and literary magazines, such as the short story section of ABC.
Her latest work, La chica muerta favorita de todos [Everyone’s Favourite Dead Girl] (Libros del K.O., 2025), is a true crime novel in which she revisits the murder of Elizabeth Short to call into question the industry surrounding the case.
