Borja Crespo

Artistic director of Comic Barcelona and journalist specialized in the fantasy and horror genres.

Born in Bilbao, Borja Crespo is a director, film producer, writer, illustrator and cartoonist. He began his career writing about fantasy and horror films in fanzines like 2000 Maniacs, Subterfuge and Quatermass and has since published in other media, including Vanidad, La Guía del Cómic, and La Comictiva, among many others. Since the nineties, he has been a weekly collaborator with the culture section of El Correo as a journalist specializing in cinema, comics, and the latest trends. He has directed music videos, short films, and television programmes, and he has been a consultant and coordinator for film- and comic-related cultural events, such as GRAF and the Getxo Comic Fair.  

As a cartoonist he has published several comics, including Tales from the Splatter Family (Subterfuge, 1998) starring a gossipy psycho-killer, and Comic Horror Freak Show (Hilargi, 2000), and he has contributed to collective books on film theory. Also noteworthy are the short film Snuff 2000, based on the work of the same name by the cartoonist M.A. Martín, which was nominated for the best European short fantasy film (2003), and the film Neuroworld (2014), based on the imagination of M. A. Martín, which has been screened at numerous festivals.
