Born in Romanian, Corina Oproae studied English and Hispanic Languages and Literature in her home country. Since 1998 she has lived in Catalonia, where she has pursued a literary career that combines poetry, translation, and fiction. She has published several collections of poems, including Mil y una muertes [1,001 Deaths] (La Garúa, 2016), Intermitencias [Intermittencies] (Sabina Editorial, 2018) and Desde dónde amar [A Place to Love From] (Pretextos, 2021). In Catalan, she is the author of La mà que tremola [The Unsteady Hand] (Llibres del Segle, 2020), a poetic reflection on the experience of writing in a language that is not one’s mother tongue. She has recently published the poetry collection Cómo enterrar al padre en un poema [How to Bury Your Father in a Poem] (Tusquets Editores, 2025).

Oproae has also played a prominent role as a translator into Catalan and Spanish of authors such as Ana Blandiana – Jordi Domènech Prize for Poetry Translation (2015), Norman Manea, Ioan Es. Pop, Angela Marinescu, and Mary Oliver, and she is the co-author and translator of La poesia del segle XX a Romania [20th-century Poetry in Romania] (2022).
