With a degree in Plastic Arts and presently a grant holder of the Mexican FONCA National System of Art Creators, she has published texts in literary magazines like Letras Libres, Make, Granta, and Tierra Adentro. In 2010 she published one of her most outstanding books, Mudanza (Move, consonni, 2020), a work between art criticism and the novel in which she captures her research into the plasticity of words. Other notable works are Conjunto vacío (Empty Set – Pepitas de calabaza, 2020), winner of the international Aura Estrada award and the Cálamo Otra mirada prize and applauded for its originality and ability to draw with words, and La Compañía (The Company – Pepitas de calabaza, 2017), in which she once again plays with the hybridity between her visual and literary sides. Apart from writing, her artwork has been exhibited in centres of several European and Latin American cities, among them, the Museum of Mexico City, the Whitechapel Gallery in London, and the MUCA Roma in Mexico City. Gerber defines herself as a visual artist who writes, just as she regards her visual work as a set of texts.
