Guillem-Jordi Graells has been one of the galvanizers of contemporary Catalan theatre. A founder of the Teatre de l’Escorpí and Zitzània/teatre, he has premiered his own works and has directed and translated a large number of international authors. He has played a fundamental role in institutions such as the Teatre Lliure, where he has held positions as literary director, head of dramaturgy, and co-director, and at the Institut del Teatre, where he was first head of studies and then deputy director. He has also edited books and written prologues for prominent authors; he has curated theatre-related exhibitions and written scripts for radio and television.

Graells, who has been involved in the defence of the language through activism since his youth, has played a fundamental role in the institutional promotion of Catalan literature, both from the AELC, which he presided over from 2007 to 2015, and the Institution of Catalan Letters.
