Fictions and Dissent
Director of ADHUC, the Research Centre for Theory, Gender, and Sexuality at the University of Barcelona, and full professor of Galician and Portuguese Studies, in 2017 she was named a corresponding member of the Galician Academy, and in 2021 she received the medal of honour from the Council for Galician Culture. Her research centres on feminist literary criticism, popular culture, the theory of emotions, and Galician and Portuguese literature. She has published numerous articles, book chapters and books on Galician culture (Rosalía de Castro, Manuel Antonio, Luís Seoane, Xohana Torres, Luz Pozo, María Mariño, Ana Romaní, Chus Pato, Margarita Ledo, Teresa Moure, María Reimóndez), Brazilian authors (Carol Bensimon, Hilda Hilst), writers who witnessed Francoist and Nazi repression (Mercedes Núñez, among others), and the relations between Galician and Catalan cultures (Basilio Losada, Maria-Mercè Marçal, Maria Antònia Salvà). She is also the translator into Galician of A Thousand Morons by Quim Monzó and Estimada Marta [Dear Marta] by Miquel Martí i Pol, and she is preparing an anthology in Galician of 21st-century Catalan poetry. Since 2014, she has been the coordinator, with Mariám Mariño, of A Saia: feminist and LGBTQ+ journals (co-edited by ADHUC / Consello da Cultura Galega). She has been the director of the scientific journals Lectora and Abriu and of the Centre Dona i Literatura [Women and Literature] (2014-2016).
