Behind the Cover of 'The New Yorker'
Born in Valencia, Ana Juan began her artistic career in Madrid in the 1980s, collaborating on fanzines and magazines such as La Luna or Madriz, as well as in newspapers such as El País and El Mundo. Since then, she has worked internationally across various media outlets. Her most notable work includes the creation of 25 covers for The New Yorker, including commemorative ones for the 9/11 attacks in New York and Solidaritée, created in response to the attack on Charlie Hebdo magazine in January 2015.
She is the author of illustrated books such as Snowhite (Edelvives, 2014) and Demeter (Edelvives, 2014). She is the recipient of the Saint Charles Medal from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Valencia (2012), among other awards. She currently lives in Madrid, where she continues to develop her visual universe through illustration, painting, and graphic novels.
