Behind the Cover of 'The New Yorker'
With a degree in Illustration from the Massana School, Luci Gutiérrez has developed an outstanding career in the fields of advertising, media, and publishing, collaborating with publications such as The New Yorker and The New York Times. In 2007, she settled in New York, an experience that led to the publication of English Is Not Easy (Blackie Books, 2013), a guide to learning English with a wry humour and autobiographical tone, which has been translated and published in several countries.
In 2019 she published Manual de autodefensa [Self-Defence Manual] (Blackie Books), her most personal work, in which she reflects on her own fears and shows, with irony and sensitivity, that life—like English—is not easy. Her work has also been recognized with an award from the Society of Illustrators in New York and the Gràffica award, given by design and visual communication professionals in Spain.
