Born in Vic, Quimi Portet is co-founder and the guitarist of El Último de la Fila, one of the most influential and successful pop-rock bands in Spain during the 1980s and 1990s. He has also developed a solid solo career, remaining faithful to a style that combines pop and rock melodies, tradition and transgression, with lyrics replete with irony and pointed observations on human nature.

His solo albums include Persones estranyes (1987), his first; Hoquei sobre pedres (1997); Cançoner electromagnètic (1999); La terra és plana (2004) and Si plou, ho farem al pavelló (2020). He has also worked as a producer for artists like Adrià Puntí, Albert Pla and Gerard Quintana. Portet is a recipient of the Altaveu Lifetime Achievement Award (2016). This year he published the book Cançons en bell llemosí (1987–2020) (La Segona Perifèria, 2025), a compilation of the lyrics from the 130 songs of his solo career along with reflections on his creative evolution.
