Álvaro Trigo has an undergraduate degree in Philology and a Master’s degree in East Asian Studies and Japanese Studies from the University of Salamanca, where he also earned his PhD in Modern Languages in 2021 with a thesis on the literary world of the Korean writer Chae Mansik. He furthered his specialization with a Master’s degree in Korean History and Culture from the Academy of Korean Studies, and he studied Korean-Spanish literary translation at the Literature Translation Institute of Korea.

South Korean authors such as Kim Ae-ran Afuera es verano [Summer Outside] (Godall Edicions, 2023), Bora Chung Conejo maldito [Cursed Bunny] (Alpha Decay, 2023), and Jang Eun-jin Ya nadie escribe cartas [No One Writes Back] (Shiro Libros, 2024) have reached the Spanish-speaking public through his work. Recently, he has also translated the author Lee Kiho’s Nos sale bien pedir perdón [At Least We Can Apologize] (Hwarang, 2025). Currently, he teaches courses on Korean language, literature, and cinema at the University of Salamanca.
