  • Beer by Charles Bukowski

Nerdo Creative Studio / Italy, 2016, 2’15’’, Original version with Catalan subtitles

Beer is a free interpretation of the poem Beer by Charles Bukowski. The composition is a manifesto of the author’s way of life, which is why we decide to go inside the author’s mind, and it is not a safe journey. A brain without a filter, a tale of ordinary madness, showing how much loneliness and decadence can be concealed in the mind of a genius.

  • The Man with the Beautiful Eyes

Jonathan Hodgson / United Kingdom, 2000, 5’38’’, Original version with Catalan subtitles

In this poem by Charles Bukowski, a gang of kids find a strange house with an overgrown garden where they play. Only once do they meet the man who lives there, a dead-beat alcoholic with a free and easy spirit who welcomes them. The children see him as a romantic character, in stark contrast to their neurotically house-proud parents.

  • You Never Had It – An Evening with Bukowski [PREMIERE]

Matteo Borgardt / United States – Italy - Mexico, 2016, 51’44’’, Original version with Spanish subtitles

This short documentary is based on a video interview conducted by Silvia Bizio with writer Charles Bukowski at his home in San Pedro, California, in January 1981. It was a long night of smoking cigarettes and drinking wine with Bukowski and his soon-to-be wife, Linda Lee Beighle, talking about all kind of subjects, from writers to sex, love and humanity. The interview was shot on Umatic tapes which have been digitised and edited along with new Super-8 footage of scenes of Los Angeles today, and poems read by Bukowski himself.
