The sea, ocean, and transatlantic voyages are so frequently encountered in literature that they could be said to constitute a genre in and of themselves. What do we talk about, when we talk about “oceanic literatures”? For the latest issue of Carn de Cap, we have invited some of our most cherished authors to answer that question, and their responses are as broad as the theme itself: counterfeit travels, taking a sailing trip through a midlife crisis, revisiting the origins of the Mediterranean. They draw human and geographic cartographies that map out the historical and emotional power oceans have held throughout our history.
