Silvia Zayas, Michel André, and Claudio Barría
Professor and scientist, his research revolves around noise pollution.
Michel André is the Director of the Laboratory of Applied Bioacoustics at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. He holds a degree in Biotechnology Engineering from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (Toulouse, France) and a PhD from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain); his dissertation was on sperm whale acoustics and noise pollution. He is currently a lecturer at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and has worked as a research assistant and as a scientist in California.
His research involves the development of acoustic technologies for the control of noise pollution in the marine environment; the study of the biological and pathological impact of noise pollution on marine organisms acoustic pathways; the mathematical, physical, morpho- and electro-physiological mechanisms of the cetacean bio-sonar as well as the extraction of the information from their acoustic signals.
