Blixa Bargeld (West Berlin, 1959) is a guitarist, composer, performer, actor and poet. In 1980 he formed the pioneering industrial music group Einstürzende Neubauten, taking the position of lead vocalist. From 1984 to 2003 he was a member of the legendary rock-punk band Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, where he was guitarist and backing vocalist. In recent years he has worked on a series of Speech Performances using his voice and all kinds of electronic implements, together with Einstürzende sound engineer Boris Wilsdorf

His book Europa kreuzweise. Eine Litanei (Residenz Verlag, 2009) emerged following a tour in 2008, in which the author toured Europe, observed it and went on to portray it as a once-euphoric city now bored with itself and starting to show the cracks.
