Sonia Fernández-Vidal

Researcher and science communicator of international prestige, she has published books on quantum physics for both adults and children. Selected by Forbes as one of the world’s 100 most creative people in 2017.

Sonia Fernández-Vidal holds a PhD in Information and Quantum Optics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). She has worked and collaborated as a researcher with some of the world’s most prestigious centres, such as the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland, the Los Álamos National Laboratory in the United State and the Institute of Phototonic Sciences (ICFO) in Barcelona. She is a lecturer at the physics department of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and co-founder of the technological consultancy Gauss & Neumann.

With regard to her work as a science communicator, she is the author of the trilogy La puerta de los tres cerrojos; Quantic Love, a novel set at the CERN that approaches science from the more human side; Desayuno con partículas; and her latest book El Universo en tus manos, which takes children deep into the marvels of the Cosmos. Her works have been acclaimed by different personalities from the fields of both literature and science.
