Alida Bremer

Writer and translator, mediator for Croatian literature in Germany.

Alida Bremer was born in 1959 in Split, Croatia. At university she read Comparative Literature and Romance, German and Slavic studies, and graduated in Comparative Literature. Alida Bremer is one of the most important mediators for Croatian literature in Germany. She has translated numerous novels, essays and theatre plays, and is the German voice of authors such as Edo Popović, Renato Baretić, Bora Ćosić, Ivana Sajko, Marko Pogačar and Roman Simić. Alida Bremer also works as a curator for several literary programmes. She is the editor of various anthologies and of the magazine Beton International. In 2013 she published her first novel, Olivas Garten. She has received several awards for her works and cultural commitment.
