Science fiction in Latin America has often approached social problems from aesthetic-political-rebellious postulates. Climatic SF, the new weird, cyberpunk, Afrofuturism, utopia and dystopia are subgenres that have used the space of fiction as a means of denouncing reality. This workshop given by Lucía Leandro Hernández, offers an overview of Latin American science fiction on the basis of several theories with origins in the continent, illustrated with texts by some of the most representative contemporary women writers of Latin America.
