The standpoint of gender has changed science fiction. The pioneers Ursula K. Le Guin and Octavia E. Butler have now been followed by a new generation of women writers including Nnedi Okorafor, Mary Robinette Kowal, Kiran Millwood Hargravena, and Kameron Hurley herself, who are overturning paradigms and enriching the genre in many directions. In the last decade, Hurley has published worldwide hits like La brigada lluminosa (The Light Brigade – Mai més / Alianza) and La revolución feminista geek (The Geek Feminist Revolution – Alianza), a volume of essays that combats the invisibilisation of women creators, especially in the domain of science fiction. She will speak with Víctor García Tur, winner of the Sant Jordi Prize with his L’aigua que vols (The Water You Want – Univers) and driving spirit of the non-human visions course of the literary studies at the Escola Bloom, about the new horizons of the genre, although reflections about the future of war, posthumanism, sexuality, capitalism, and the dangers of the multinationals are sure to sneak into the conversation.

Kameron Hurley will participate by videoconference.
