The intersection between sweetness, humour and tragedy is the space that Narine Abgaryan chooses to inhabit to narrate the lives of ordinary people in Armenia and tell us about their mundane concerns, small victories and subtle vendettas. Such was already the case with Three Apples Fell from the Sky, a novel that made her a renowned author in Europe and whose prose pays homage to the rhythm of the Armenian oral tradition. And so it continues in her next novel, Simon, which begins with the meeting of four women at the funeral of the man they all loved.

In this session, Narine Abgaryan talks with her translator into Catalan, Marta Nin, about her work and its growing international recognition and immerses us in the diversity of landscapes and settings that make up her native Armenia.
